Ordinary life
I am just an ordinary citizen of Utah who dreams to have a simple and happy life, and a life that will give meaning not just for me but for other people also. I’m Perfecto Macasaet, a weird name for American right? It is because my father is a Filipino. I’m 38 years of age, married with four children.
My father and my mother separated when I was 10. And my dad decided to comeback to the Philippines so my mother raised me until I get 21. After a year my mom died because of cancer and I’m thankful that dad went to her burial. My father said to me that he will go back to the Philippines to manage his business and he appointed me as a new supervisor unfortunately I haven’t have my papers to go to the Philippines and with the aid if work permit Philippines I got all the needed documents in a small period of time. So I headed to the Philippines with my father. I work long hours to earn money because I want to be with my family, and fortunately dad observe that I’m good so he gives me a month vacation every year to visit my family in Utah. And I’m very thankful to my father because he always guides me and teach me the lesson that I need to know. I’m very proud that my father is a Filipino.
Now I can speak filipino words but not that good but I’m hoping that I can learn it and also share it with my family and friends because I find Filipino language cool. I admired Filipinos for their generosity and it’s really true that Filipinos are one of the happiest people in the world because I always see them smile and laugh, they are right sometimes you just have to laugh your problems but be sure that you make way to solve it, I envy Filipinos for their concern with each other, I never experience that in Utah. And even in hardships Filipino still can think of a joke just to lessen the pressure that they are feeling. Filipinos inspire me.
“Laughter is the best medicine”, now I can see the sense of this saying.
Salamat. (Thank you)
